FSSAI Registration Services In Pune India
2026 FSSAI route: start with turnover, then test the activity
For new applications from 1 April 2026, FSSAI’s revised turnover bands are registration up to ₹1.5 crore, State licence above ₹1.5 crore to ₹50 crore, and Central licence above ₹50 crore. The amendment did not change the jurisdiction of licensing/registering authorities.
| Category from 1 April 2026 | Turnover band |
|---|---|
| Registration | Up to ₹1.5 crore |
| State licence | Above ₹1.5 crore and up to ₹50 crore |
| Central licence | Above ₹50 crore |
Turnover is only an initial screen. FoSCoS also evaluates the Kind of Business, products, capacity, special activities and premises. Do not classify an importer, multi-state head office, manufacturing unit or special-location business solely by its turnover. Confirm the category actually returned by the official eligibility flow.
Pune operating-model decision table
Use these Pune-specific starting scenarios to identify what needs checking; none is an automatic approval or a substitute for the official eligibility result.
| Pune operating setup | Decisive question / records | Safe next action |
|---|---|---|
| Home tiffin or cloud kitchen in Pune | Actual cooking address, expected turnover, service KoB; rented/home premises evidence | Select Maharashtra and the true premises; verify registration versus licence in eligibility checker |
| Production or repacking unit near Pimpri-Chinchwad | Factory layout, equipment/capacity, products and water/process records as applicable | Check manufacturing KoB and activity-specific licensing/document requirements |
| Pune firm selling imported packaged food | Is this operator the actual importer named in the import/IEC records, or only a purchaser from an Indian supplier? Check the importer KoB and IEC address. | If directly importing food for sale in India, verify the Central importer-licence route and declared address in current FoSCoS; do not treat a domestic purchase of imported stock as direct import. |
| Café plus second Pune outlet or warehouse | Are these separate physical premises? Which activities occur at each site? | Map each premises; the default is a separate authorisation per site, with stated exceptions such as transporters |
| Pune office with food operations in another state | Is this the head office of an FBO active in more than one state? | Check the additional Central head-office licensing route and each unit’s own category |
| Street cart in Pune or Pimpri-Chinchwad | Is there a valid registration under the 2014 Street Vendors Act? | Verify deemed registration eligibility; maintain hygiene duties; otherwise check FoSCoS route |
A Pune premises-and-evidence checklist
Build a premises register before paying anyone to file. Official Form B fields ask for the premises address and turnover, and the state/FoSCoS document lists call for additional evidence according to the actual activity. Do not present manufacturing documents as universally mandatory for every tiffin seller.
| Pune file element | Evidence to reconcile | Error to prevent |
|---|---|---|
| Exact operation site | Rent/ownership/utility evidence; Pune-area address, district, sub-district and pincode as displayed in FoSCoS | Using the advisor’s office, registered company office or a different kitchen address |
| Operator and authorised signatory | Entity name, government-issued ID, constitutional/authorisation records where applicable | Mismatch between portal applicant, lease and responsible operator |
| Food work at each site | Menu/product groups, KoBs, storage/production/delivery tasks, estimated annual turnover | Calling a production site only “retail” or omitting an activity |
| Activity-conditional annexes | For manufacturers/processors, relevant layout, machinery, FSMS, water-related evidence or sourcing records as applicable | Demanding a universal laboratory test or omitting a document genuinely required by the selected KoB |
File through FoSCoS and retain a traceable record
A safe filing sequence keeps the applicant in control of the portal account, payment and final certificate.
- Map every operating site in the Pune area and the legally responsible food business operator.
- Open official FoSCoS, select the correct physical-premises location (General, railway or airport/seaport path as relevant), and check the KoB eligibility result.
- Match the application name, site address, contact details, food activities, turnover and the portal-selected category to documentary proof.
- Upload only the documents required for that application type; review Form A or Form B and the portal summary before payment.
- Pay the government fee shown by FoSCoS, retain its acknowledgement/reference number, and record any consultant fee separately.
- Track queries, respond with verifiable records, complete any authority-required inspection, and verify the issued certificate details before operating in reliance on it.
Existing authorisations, street vendors and continuing duties
Under the 2026 amendment, authorisations issued on or after 1 April 2026 have perpetual validity unless suspended, cancelled or surrendered; routine renewals are not required, but applicable fees and continuing food-safety obligations remain. FSSAI permits payment for a chosen number of years, rather than a promise of a fee-free authorisation.
For a licence or registration issued before 1 April 2026, do not infer its live status or treatment solely from a date printed on the old certificate. Check the FoSCoS record and applicable transition instructions before paying for any purported renewal or continuing in reliance on it.
An existing Pune State licence that moves to registration because of the revised bands is handled by FoSCoS migration based on the operator’s self-declaration, with no migration modification fee and no change in number according to FSSAI’s March 2026 FAQs. Review the actual portal status before paying for a “renewal” or submitting a duplicate new registration. Changes unrelated to the threshold migration still follow modification rules.
If a Pune State licence was prepaid before a threshold-driven move to registration, FSSAI says the paid amount is adjusted against the registration annual fee. Reconcile that credit in FoSCoS before paying again; it does not establish a waiver of unrelated modification charges or a consultant’s fee.
A Pune hawker already registered under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014 may be deemed FSSAI-registered under the 2026 change; first verify the qualifying street-vending registration. This is not a blanket exemption for all informal food sellers, nor an exemption from applicable Schedule 4 hygiene rules.
For a post-issue checklist, distinguish manufacturing from non-manufacturing and retail: the June 2026 second amendment excludes non-manufacturing businesses from the specified licence condition on daily production and raw-material-use records, and excludes retailers from the specified FIFO/FEFO storage rule. Other applicable hygiene and record duties remain.
What an FSSAI filing service in Pune should deliver
A private consultant can prepare an evidence gap list, check the KoB and application route, enter and cross-check data, reply to official queries with your approval, and hand over the submission reference and certificate. Ask for an itemised quote separating the government amount shown in FoSCoS from any professional charge; do not accept a guaranteed approval or a “Pune special FSSAI licence” claim.
- A premises-by-premises KoB and authority routing note, not a fee-only quotation.
- A gap-checked document pack with reasons for each conditional annex.
- A copy of the submitted application, official payment record and application reference.
- A post-issue action list for modifications, hygiene, fee payments and activity-specific returns.
For a disputed authority mapping or stalled application, first record the FoSCoS reference and check “Track Application” / “Know Your Officer”. Then use the portal’s helpdesk (helpdesk-foscos@fssai.gov.in; 1800-11-2100). The Maharashtra FDA Pune Division directory is a regional point of reference, not a separate paper-filing channel.

Pune-specific questions
My café is in Baner but its company office is in Mumbai. Which location should appear?
For the Pune café authorisation, use its actual food-operation premises; check whether other sites or multi-state operations create additional authorisations. A postal/company address alone does not decide the filing location.
Does a cloud kitchen in Pimpri-Chinchwad need a special local FSSAI tier?
No separate local FSSAI turnover tier was found. Select its actual Maharashtra premises and food-service KoB, then use FoSCoS to assess the required authorisation. Separately check any civic permissions.
My Pune State licence was issued before April 2026; must I purchase renewal assistance?
Not automatically. Check the current FoSCoS status and the 2026 perpetual-validity/migration arrangements before engaging a provider; FSSAI says threshold-driven migration itself attracts no modification fee.
Does a registered Pune street hawker need another FSSAI registration?
Only a vendor covered by the 2014 Street Vendors Act registration may rely on the deemed-registration provision. Verify that record and continue applicable hygiene compliance; others must check their route.
Can a consultant guarantee an FSSAI number within 24 hours in Pune?
No adviser can guarantee an authority decision from this guide. Filing speed is not issuance; use the official acknowledgement and status tracker, and check whether Tatkal is available and eligible for the actual KoB.
