Sni Certification Services In Indonesia

Scope and evidence must be confirmed before any paid tests or filings.

What SNI certification coordination must deliver

SNI is an Indonesian National Standard, not a universal permit covering all goods. Under Law 20/2014 and Government Regulation 34/2018, applying an SNI can be voluntary; a competent authority may make a specified SNI mandatory by technical regulation. A certification assignment therefore begins with a product-and-regulation check, not an automatic promise to issue a certificate. Coordination connects the applicant, factory, authorised product certification body (LSPro), approved testing route and—where required—the relevant government filing system.

Gate 1 — lock the product-specific route

Create a dated route sheet for each product family, model, brand and production site. A standards catalogue entry or an offer from a laboratory does not, by itself, establish that certification is legally mandatory or that the laboratory is accepted for the applicable scheme.

Legal triggerCheck the current product-specific ministry regulation, product description and tariff classification where relevant; record mandatory, voluntary or unresolved status.
Standard and editionRecord the precise SNI number, edition, covered models and any technical provisions; do not substitute a similarly named standard.
Applicant and authorityConfirm whether a domestic manufacturer, importer or authorised local representative may submit, and who holds the resulting document under that product rule.
Scheme and providerVerify the required certification scheme and whether LSPro accreditation, ministerial designation, laboratory scope and SIINas filing are needed for this specific product.

Scheme type can change the coverage of a certificate. A Ministry of Industry LSPro explains that Type 1 SPPT SNI may cover only the sampled population, such as one production batch or one import shipment, while its Type 5 example involves sampling, testing and a management-system audit. These are examples of different schemes, not options an applicant can freely substitute. Confirm the legally applicable scheme and whether subsequent lots or shipments are covered.

Six handoffs from intake to certificate

Use these as project control gates, not as statutory universal stages. The ordering and portal depend on the product regulation and certification scheme; some applications are routed through SIINas rather than sent directly to an LSPro.

A Ministry of Industry certification service page updated on 6 May 2026 explicitly routes applications for products under that ministry’s mandatory SNI requirements through SIINas; its voluntary channel is different. This is a ministry-scope example, not proof that SIINas is universal across all ministries or products.

For each handoff, record the sending party, receiving party, dated file version or submission reference, unresolved request, and the person responsible for closure. A coordinator can track these records but cannot replace the LSPro’s certification decision.

  1. 1. Intake / coordinator

Freeze model list, factory, brand, intended trade route and initial regulatory decision; obtain a signed route sheet.

  2. 2. Scope confirmation / applicant + LSPro

Request written acceptance of product scope, scheme, eligible applicant, test plan, site requirements and proposed milestones.

  3. 3. Dossier and filing / applicant or designated representative

Submit required legal, brand and quality records through the correct application channel; retain submission receipt and queries.

  4. 4. Audit and samples / LSPro + factory

Where the scheme requires it, arrange factory assessment and controlled sampling; preserve sampling report, IDs and chain of custody.

  5. 5. Testing and corrections / laboratory + manufacturer

Match reports to SNI edition and sampled models; close nonconformities and obtain LSPro confirmation for any retest or reassessment.

  6. 6. Decision and handover / LSPro + applicant

Verify the issued certificate, annexed models/brands/sites, applicable registration or electronic validation, marking authorisation and surveillance plan before release.

The application evidence pack

Build one controlled dossier with an owner and revision date for every file. Typical requests in Ministry of Industry LSPro procedures include the following; the product regulation and selected LSPro may require more or less.

  • Corporate identity, business permissions or NIB and applicant/representative authorisation, where applicable.
  • Trademark ownership, licence or brand-use authority; reconcile legal names across all records.
  • Manufacturer, factory address, organisation, production flow, equipment and product-quality controls.
  • Complete product matrix: model, variants, brand, ratings, materials, drawings, labels and declared manufacturing sites.
  • Quality-system manual and supporting implementation records, internal audits or ISO 9001 evidence if the scheme requests them; an ISO 9001 certificate is not an automatic substitute for product certification.
  • Proposed SNI-mark artwork and samples/test records, plus translations and additional documents where the scheme or LSPro requires them.

Sampling, testing and corrective action

Do not send convenient samples to an arbitrary lab first. Agree the sample selection, who seals them, the accepted laboratory, the exact methods and reporting route with the responsible LSPro. Government LSPro procedures show that factory sampling, laboratory evaluation and assessment can be parts of certification; overseas results or ISO reports are not automatically transferable.

  • Test failure: preserve original report, identify root cause and affected variants, then seek the LSPro-approved retest scope before altering samples.
  • Factory audit finding: log evidence of corrective action and obtain closure or a new assessment as instructed by the LSPro.
  • Mismatched report or model: reconcile product identifiers and standard edition; do not attach an unrelated or obsolete report to the application.

Release gate: evidence before sale or shipment

A paid invoice, booked test, passing laboratory report or draft certificate is not a market-access clearance. The responsible party must verify all product-specific legal conditions, including other applicable Indonesian regimes.

  • Confirm the final certificate and any annex cover the exact legal entity, brand, model variants and production site.
  • Confirm applicable government validation/registration or SIINas status where prescribed, rather than assuming LSPro approval alone is enough.
  • Approve the exact SNI-mark or other mandatory labelling only under the certificate and marking rules that apply.
  • Record the surveillance or renewal obligations and separate import, customs, sector permits and distribution checks before launch.
  • Where a certificate covers a specific batch or shipment, match its identifiers to the goods being released; do not assume it also covers future deliveries.

Keep the certificate aligned with production

Keep a change register linking every certified model to the factory, critical components, standards edition, artwork and certificate scope. A new model, component, process, production site, brand or ownership arrangement may require notification, scope extension, tests or a fresh assessment; the LSPro and applicable regulation decide, not the coordinator.

  • New variant or material: compare against the certificate annex and testing coverage before release.
  • Factory relocation or changed production process: ask the LSPro whether an additional audit or revised evidence is required.
  • New brand/importer or representative: check holder eligibility and whether amendments or a new filing are needed.
  • Revised SNI or ministry rule, surveillance due date or suspension: stop relying on an outdated scope and obtain documented status confirmation.

Boundaries of the SNI service

This page owns execution, handoffs and deliverables for an SNI file. For wider Indonesian market-access routes beyond SNI, use the country overview at product compliance and market access in Indonesia. No generic SNI timetable, universal fee, certificate duration, foreign-laboratory acceptance or guaranteed outcome can be quoted without the product-specific scheme.

Questions at difficult decision points

Is SNI certification compulsory for every imported item?

No. Mandatory status must be established from the relevant current product regulation and product identity. SNI standards also have voluntary applications; import status alone is not the legal test.

Can a foreign factory apply without an Indonesian party?

Do not assume either answer. Check the designated applicant and authorised-representative requirements in the exact product rule before filing, particularly where SIINas is used.

Can existing IEC/ISO or overseas test reports replace local testing?

Only if the selected scheme and competent LSPro accept the report, methods, lab and sample traceability. A similar test or accredited overseas laboratory is not sufficient proof of acceptance.

Does passing a test mean the SNI mark can be printed?

No. First verify the certification decision, final scope and licence or marking conditions; where applicable, also verify government validation or registration.

What if one model fails but related variants pass?

Place the affected variant on hold, map test coverage and request a written LSPro decision on corrective tests, retesting and the scope of any certificate. Do not assume the entire family passes or fails together.
